			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I was alerted to a new tool that allows easy comparison of <a title="OSM" href="http://www.openstreetmap.org" target="_blank">OpenStreetMap</a> and other web maps with a nice little slider bar. <p>Most importantly it lets me see how with just one dedicated local mapper, <a title="OSM Osbornec" href="http://www.openstreetmap.org/user/Osbornec" target="_blank">me</a>, OSM can maintain higher quality mapping than its commercial rivals. It also makes me wonder when we will start seeing Local Authorities and the third sector get involved in sponsoring hyperlocal mapping. It makes sense to fund a few local mappers to keep map data up-to-date and provide a very low cost mapping alternative for local use.</p>
